2018 GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN : The Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel Wins Two Prizes

The 2018 GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Gala was hosted at the Montreal Casino last night, gathering over 800 architecture and design professionals. We are very proud to announce that the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel renovation and transformation project has received two prizes! The hotel has won in the Hospitality Establishment category and the Rosélys restaurant won the in the Restaurant of over 2 000 sq.ft. category. Congratulations to Sid Lee Architecture (vision, concept and interior design) and Sid Lee Architecture | Architecture49, architectural consortium for their incredible work!

The GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN showcases the talent of Québec-based designers, architects and landscape architects, with more than 500 projects and 200 firms in over 60 categories. The winning projects are featured in a special edition of INTÉRIEURS magazine, entirely dedicated to the contest.

About the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel Transformation

After being closed for more than a year for major renovations, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel re-opened in July 2017. The project was executed by the architectural consortium of Sid Lee Architecture | Architecture49, with general contractor Pomerleau. The Montreal office of Architecture49 is proud to have contributed to this high-profile project.

Working to the high standards of the prestigious Fairmont brand, the designers created environments open to the city, encouraging local and international clienteles to embrace the legendary hotel’s living and work spaces. The transformation included the modernization of some 950 guest rooms and suites and the creation of new public spaces such as the Grand Hall, the Agora, a business campus, Marché Artisans, Rosélys restaurant, Nacarat bar and Krema café.
